Yeah, I came back from class and found my bed about 5 feet shorter than how I'd left it. That's two out of three. Now if they'd fix the smoke alarm they'd have a 100 percent.
Today of all days I feel good. Not great, mind you, not perfect, but tolerably able to move body parts without wincing.
You think, yeah, that's great. Back to normal. Except that I haven't had a day like THIS in about a month, and feeling like this actually makes me kinda edgy. I tend to worry about moving too much, tend to want to overdo it when I don't feel any negative response. Knowing this will probably aggravate my fragile handhold on normalcy, I wind up doing exactly the same thing I did yesterday and the day before.
Guess this is what they call cautiously optimistic.
Beyond that, it's the weekend. A long weekend. A long weekend with really nothing to do and no one to do it with, so I'm not sure WHAT I'm going to do. Probably watch Who until I can't see straight. Probably rewatch half of Season 1, new series...
Wrote a new fanfic today. (Who again. Seems I have a one track mind these days.) It's an odd one out, merely because I wrote this one based on the lyrics of a song I heard last night. I thought it might make a nice basis for a fic and wrapped the story around it.
Usually this type of fic doesn't work because the writer doesn't handle the balancing right. You either get all lyrics and complete uck for original writing or terrible lyrics that totally do not fit the situation at all, meaning the writer has to bridge the gap and try to make them apply. It's a tricky thing to do; taking someone else's work and wrapping it up like a present within your own.
Of course, having given the singer credit where credit was due, I went on a slightly different tack with it, so instead of the story dominating the lyrics and trying to apply them to a situation I merely took the song and plunked it into a one-off scene between a reunited Rose and Doctor. Add a little Cupid, a random planet name and two suns setting and you've all the makings of what I think is a fairly passable fic.
We'll see what kind of response it gets from the audience, eh?
Link here for the story if you want to read it. I don't think you need to know much more than that these two were brutally separated at the end of season 2 and this is just a hopeful little fic wishing they were together again like the old days.
Oh, and I like the song, of course (it's why I wrote the story in the first place) so here's the video for it:
Ta,
Bec
PS: If the links aren't showing up and all you're seeing is black, story is at the website called Teaspoon and an Open Mind. Should be approved by tomorrow sometime (admin has to approve the stuff we post) so you can read it, and it's called Until You, under my author name of ThetaSigma. This one's okay to read-watch it with some of my other stuff! Some of it is not for tender eyes!
The song is by Dave Barnes, and it's also called Until You.
Cheers!
