So, what did I do with Memorial Day?
Went shopping, bought some stuff I needed to have. Called Mom; talked to her. Apparently the price of gas these days hasn't stopped my grandmother and aunt from carting themselves down to Milwaukee from Rhinelander at least once every two weeks. A five hour drive to see my cousin and her kid downstate. Gas may have to be a hundred bucks a gallon before they give it up.
Then I happened to be flipping around on Youtube, bored and stuff, when I came upon a David Tennant movie I hadn't seen yet. So I decided to watch it.
Oh. My. God. I haven't been this affected by a movie in a long while. Really.
And it's not just because it's the guy who plays the Doctor right now, although that is why I watched it in the first place. No, this movie proved to me how darn good he is in general at what he does.
It's about these two people who have been married for a fairly long time, happy and settled. Life seems perfect, all's going well until he gets hit by a truck and gets brain damage from the accident.
The rest of the movie is about the both of them dealing with this whole thing, and HE was amazing. It was so hard to sit there and watch him go from one emotional extreme to the other because he wasn't able to control himself anymore, to see him standing there having lit the toaster on fire but not knowing what to do.
I won't spoil it anymore for you if you want to watch it. Not for the faint of heart, that's for sure. There was more than one point where I almost turned it off because I didn't think I could handle the emotional content any longer. You really do forget that he's an actor doing this role and that he's NOT brain damaged (yay, David. Sucked me right into it, didn't you?) I loved him as an actor before, I am near worship levels now.
Oh, yeah, the title of the movie. It's called "Recovery." When I found it on Youtube it was in 9 parts.
On a lighter note, the project is going ahead full speed and when the material gets here later this week I think I'll be ready. It's actually okay that I've had to wait for the material to show up-I fixed a glitch with one part of things already and I'm going to run a test today.
So, ta.
