I am clearly very sick of living with my parents.
It would explain why I am suddenly all in need to go back to school.
Here's my logical thinking on the topic (bear with me.)
1. I could linger on in Mum and Dad's house for another year, but I would be more unhappy than I am now, and no guaranteeing that I'm getting out anytime soon.
2. I could try to survive on my savings, but I would last about ten months to a year and be back here again completely broke this time.
3. I need experience in a public library. I'm not going to get that here. I'm 15 minutes out of town with no money and our library here is small. I have to go somewhere else.
4. So, I can go back to school again, this time getting a Bachelor's in History with a teaching emphasis (and possibly a minor in Library Media Specialist.) There are several different kinds of libraries in the world; right now I'm very qualified for college libraries and I need more experience in a public library (even volunteering would be better than nothing). I can't currently work at elementary or high schools because I need an education degree, and I can't work at a museum or archive place because I don't have a history degree.
The BA in history with teaching emphasis covers both-I won't teach with it, but I'd have those extra qualifications to apply for more jobs in my field. I will also then spend my spare time (what remains of it) volunteering a a public library to gain the experience I need, making me more qualified for that (and hopefully scoring a job when they see how awesome I am.)
One can hope that I come out of this with enough qualifications to get me hired in pretty much any library in the world.
I'm looking at two schools- Eau Claire (yes, I know. Been there, done that, graduated and everything) and Superior. Both have the public library within walking distance of the campus. I wouldn't have to take Gen Eds again, so I would take what I needed to take and no more. Financial aid would support me again until I found something either in school or out of it, but I could try to get hired in either a different department at Eau Claire (circulation didn't go so well the last time) or at the library in Superior.
So, that's the plan. I'm waiting on an e-mail from Superior on Monday and then I have to start applying already. Unless something else comes through, I'll move out in May and start school again in September.
Here we go again...
