Let's not feed kids in Africa,
Let's not put gas in people's cars
Let's spend a trillion million dollars
And land a rover on Mars.
There are diseases needing curing
There are people needing care
But we're too busy building robots
To ever have to share.
I'm reminded that we are selfish
When we keep funding away
When other countries are starving to death
We landed on Mars today.
Yes, I wrote this on Facebook this very morning. I'm of the belief that we should fix the problems here rather than spending money doing something that doesn't benefit humanity in the short term. A lot of money was thrown at this project that could have benefited humanity in the short term-why couldn't it have gone for research on drought-resistant crops or something? Why did we toss a huge metal and computerized ball into the sky and waste all that money?
Meanwhile, I am listening to music and waiting on a phone call. Not much to do around here today-floors are clean, dishes are done, dinner doesn't need prep for hours yet, garbage burning is caught up...we might be going to the dump today, but I have to wait for the car to come back.
And the picnic was fun, but less people showed up, and bad planning meant that the sunflower seed spitting contest didn't happen because most of the people who would have competed were busy playing Outburst, and the rest of them left. I protest. Move it back to the park!
Boy, am I opinionated today! :)
Ta,
Bec
