Another dictator gone, another day.
Whatever the man might have done, whatever he might have been, he's gone. Whatever happens to Libya now is up to the people who live there, just like Egypt.
I noted that there wasn't as much rejoicing over this lunatic dying as with Osama Bin Laden, probably because this one didn't kill a whole pile of Americans in one day. Again, I'm refusing to be joyful about this; the man is dead and his bloody face is all over the telly. It's a touch disrespectful; even if the Libyans did take the footage and put it on TV, it was a little cold to put it on ours. Guess we needed proof this time.
I hope that the Egyptians, the Tunisians, and the Libyans can get things together and make their countries better and more successful. If they want democracy in their own fashion (because they are Muslim countries and the rules are different there, a fact we Americans love to overlook when we're liberating places like Iraq) they will find it without our fingers in their pie.
I think it's time we back away and let them figure it out. We've done our part there.
Ta,
Bec
