An Entire Day Turned Upside Down

So, I was going to spend today food shopping and maybe resting a bit.

But at 12:17, that plan changed completely.

Duke called. Wanted me to come in today...at 1.

So there I am, clear across town, with not all that much food in my cart and an appointment open, finally. I had none of the stuff I wanted with me. I didn't have my records. Not even a map.

So I went. I threw the cart at the customer service people and left the store without having bought anything. I hopped on the bus and went across town, jumped on the 6 and arrived at the clinic as soon as I was able (17 minutes after 1, and the receptionist had the gall to yell at me for being late. Hey, bucko, try being all the way across the town, unable to drive, and have to get to the clinic in an hour, dammit.)

Found my way into the place where I was supposed to go, had my appointment. Two blood vials and a bunch of X-rays on my elbow and shoulder later, I went to wait for my prescription for prednisone.

Got that, and by the time I left the clinic it was 4:30.

I went straight to NCCU from there, grabbed a sandwich (with a gas pill, of course), finished my homework in a half-hour, and went to class.

Once done there, it was about 8, 8:30. I thought, I have a little bit left.

And back to Walmart I went. Finished shopping in an hour and came home at 10.

I am trashed. It was hard enough trying to shop one-armed in the middle of a store full of screaming kids running in all directions, but then toss in being poked, prodded, drained of blood and posing for X-rays in painful positions. Then add in waiting for pills. Toss on a dollop finishing homework at lightning speed, eating something I shouldn't, going back to the store and running around for an hour trying to avoid more screaming kids, going home...

So, yes, I'm exhausted, but hopefully the blood tests and X-rays will show SOMETHING.

My hand is hurting, so that's it for now.

Ta,
Bec
