I'm in a better mood than I was, but I think the boilover to my anger was just the start. Christmas might require either my absence or duct tape, possibly both.
Application is out at Hull University and I've got one for Cambridge that I'm working on today. That's five. Here's the current list:
Leicester (38 miles from Harlaxton! I'd have to go and visit them up there.)
Hull (On the North Sea. That'd be fun. I've only ever seen the North Sea from a distance, never actually touched it or anything.)
La Crosse (It's a UW school I've actually never been to, but Mum would be pleased.)
Cambridge (THE Cambridge!)(The one that Oxford doesn't like!)
U of Iowa (English librarian? Sign me up!)
Three over there, two over here, not a one of them for a public library job although that's what I'm trained for.
I think after applying to Cambridge I'm going to slow this train down a little bit. I don't want too many things out there or I'll start to lose track of all of them, and probability says the more I apply for, the more likely it is that I'll get offered two of them at a time and have to decide between them (oh how horrible that would be.) I said I'd at least get picky after five were out there and that's what I'm going to do.
Besides, if I get the Cambridge job I'll really probably explode because that would be awesome. It's one of the best universities in the world and I know I'd be held to a pretty high standard and all, but damn, it'd be worth it. I might even have to check a book out for Stephen Hawking or something (goes into meltdown at the thought of THAT...)
Boy, am I getting ahead of myself today!
The Iowa job wouldn't be bad, either. Not too far from home, I have an English degree and a library degree so I have knowledge of the subject matter involved.
Hopefully one of these puppies pans out and I get a job. I do not want to languish at my parent's for another year and a half (and have to endure Grandma's snide remarks.)
Gotta go ask my references if they want to be references again.
Ta,
Bec
