Detox Day 3

Doing well. Expecting trouble apparently is keeping it away.

Meanwhile, I have researched (half-hour on Google Images IS research) a second tattoo.

Oh, listen to Mom screaming up in Wisconsin. Hush, you.

I have one, for those who don't know it, on my left wrist. It's my middle name written the way I usually write it, with the L and E linked. It DOES tell me left from right and it's nice and small. I got it when I was on the cusp of 21 and I love it very much.

I said I'd wait 5 years to get the next one, seeing as I waited 5 years for the first. That means I have one year, approximately, to get the second. Five years is plenty of consideration time.

So my time is running out (cue Muse here) and I am starting to kind of sort of figure out what I want to get.

There are many, many options, but I have rules. Anything fluffy is no. That includes butterflies, fairies, and poofy little animals. No pop culture references, including the Stargate point of origin and Jack Sparrow's bird. No names besides mine (and I've already got one of those) and no humongous pieces that I have to cover with a parka to hide.

I decided on my right ankle a long time ago, which gives me a good sense of how big this thing is going to be (in other words, bigger than the last one but tiny compared to SOME of the others I've seen.)

I looked at tigers, as that's my Chinese zodiac symbol. The problem is that every tiger piece I've seen is HUGE and has tons of color in it. Color is a problem-it costs more, it fades and will eventually have to be redone, and you have to come back to have your tat filled in with it. Hence why I got the black only the first time.

The Greek zodiac one is a bull. Enough said.

I've narrowed it down to dragons and phoenixes (griffins are just too damn ugly.) The "which mythical creature are you?" quiz was no help (labeled me a unicorn. Seriously?) and the "which tattoo are you?" quiz was worse (BUTTERFLY?)

I have 17 images I have to find some fault with and rule out. This may take awhile.

Okay, a few minutes later, I have it narrowed down to 10 and there are two favorites as frontrunners at the moment. I'll put their pictures here for your consideration:

Tattoo by Frau Kruspe.

I like the delicate lines of the phoenix in this one, although I think if I designed my own tattoo based on this that funny swan face would probably change to a sharper, more determined beak pointing UP.

I want a more determined phoenix if I'm going to get it. If this is going to represent ME, I need it to look pretty fierce.

Tattoo by Sumad Artson.

I just love the sharp and pointy lines of this particular dragon. He's simple and won't require a lot of effort from the artist, and he can be shrank down to a reasonable size to be put where I want him. The problem with this one is: Does he fit my personality well enough to be inked under my skin?

I have lots of time to decide but would love some feedback.

Ta,
Bec

I like the first one. Like you being an authoritative to yourself, having a determination with the rules is not that easy.
